The Peralta’s

Well it has been just over two months since we bought out house here in Franklin Park. And I’m sure you will be happy to know that everything is going very well … in fact, Li and I are both really, REALLY, happy right now. We were both thinking recently about how, at this time last year, we were just about starting our grand house-hunting adventure (remember trudging through the snow?! all the shady characters we encountered?). Now, we’re in our new house, and as I said, we are so happy with the way things turned out.

We’ve done quite a bit of work already (and spent a ton of money). Li insisted on getting carpets, so we had the upstairs done. She and I changed the locks, and I had a colleague help me with the painting (goodbye, clown-blue! hello teal). We got some furniture from IKEA, some from elsewhere … a lot of it we put together ourselves to save money. You really wouldn’t believe it Lisa but I have become quite handy with a toolset in just a short while…just like Freddy!

We’re pretty much settled in nice and comfy now. On our occasional days off together, we’ll go walking around the lovely downtown area (lol, okay it’s quite hideous, but we try really hard to think of it as lovely) … or hop on the Metra which is just a block away, and ride it to the Mag Mile or Chinatown. On cooler days we just stay in with a movie and cook ourselves something to eat. Li’s cooking hasn’t gotten any better. But MINE certainly has improved. And I’m learning how to use a crockpot! The neighborhood is nice and quiet and the neighbors are friendly … just like we
wanted. I don’t want to sound like a broken record here, but we couldn’t be happier.

Anyway I just wanted to let you know how things were going … and to let you know that I so appreciate everything you did for us and I won’t forget it. I know I’m bad with responding to emails / text messages / voicemails etc., but between the two of us, Lisa, I really do believe that we wouldn’t be where we are today if it weren’t for you. I remember when we were going through that whole thing with my grandfather and Li and I were debating, like “Well do we really need Lisa?” and I was like: “YES! She’s the only person I trust in this damn thing.” And all this time later, I know that I was right to feel that way.

I hope everything’s well with you and that you are enjoying the recent rebound in the market (but not too much, you always did work too much). Next time you see Tina and Debbie, tell them we said hello. Take care of yourself and thanks again for everything.
