ConnectMLS Modern 2.0 – Start Your Own Search on the MLS!
We are excited to share that ConnectMLS has updated their searching capabilities and you can now start your own search under the Modern 2.0 view. We will be switching your search over to this new version and here are a few things you can now do:
* You can search for listings in your connectMLS portal… even Private listings!
* The updated Client Portal is mobile-friendly, easier to navigate and looks better than ever!
While we still have automated searches going based on our client’s criteria, buyers are now able to start their own search!
We hope these new features help buyers search for homes easier and negate the need to search on other consumer websites that, as you know, are typically not up to date and not regulated like ConnectMLS is.
Interested in learning more? Please reach out to us at 630-430-4790 or contact your Wenzel Select Properties Realtor directly for more information. We look forward to helping you reach your real estate goals.

The Key to Preventing Mold and Mildew Growth
It’s never fun to discover mold growing in a basement or attic. Not only is it an eyesore, but it can also be quite dangerous. As with most issues, the best way to deal with mold or mildew is to prevent the problem before it begins.
What Is Mold?
Mold is a natural and necessary part of the life cycle. It helps break down organic material, and certain types of mold can actually kill harmful bacteria for example, the antibiotic penicillin’s primary component is mold.
So, mold in and of itself is not the culprit, but it becomes a problem when it starts to promote germ growth that can stimulate allergies… Read More

Featured Testimonial
by Chris & Kelly
We met Lisa early on in our home search at an open house. As first time home buyers, we knew very little about anything to do with the process. We continued to talk with other agents as well but ultimately felt Lisa had our best interest in mind. She was not overwhelming with pushing houses as we started on our search but was there to answer any question or point out things to consider. We were on our search for 9 months with a handful of offers put in and ultimately landed on the perfect house for us! We couldn’t have asked for a better person to work with than Lisa, she was so quick to respond and act at the drop of a hat through the entire process, kept our expectations realistic, and was fully invested in making sure we took the time to find a home we loved and not just a place to live.

What’s the Deal with Mortgage Points?
If you apply for a mortgage loan today, your lender might propose that you pay a discount point or two to get a better deal. But what are discount points exactly and will they really be beneficial?
One mortgage point is equal to 1% of the loan principal, so if you plan to take a loan for $300,000, a point is $3,000. Points are sort of a prepayment on a loan to avoid paying a certain amount of interest… Read More

High Mortgage Rates Curb Sales
For the ninth consecutive month, existing-home sales fell, according to the National Association of Realtors (NAR). What’s more, both month-over-month and year-over-year sales declined in every region of the country. According to Lawrence Yun, chief economist for NAR, the decline can be attributed partly to climbing mortgage rates barring potential homebuyers from qualifying for a mortgage. The impact is greater in expensive… Read More
