moving tipsAfter the home purchasing process, you can begin to plan to move to your new home. Moving can be stressful, and planning your move is important to eliminate the stress. Wenzel Select Properties has compiled a Moving Tips checklist to guide you through the moving process.

If you will be doing the packing yourself, make a list of the number of boxes and packing materials that you will need. Make sure to get them ahead of time of your move to prevent the last minute rush.

Mark the moving boxes clearly with the goal that you can easily identify them after the move. You should label the boxes with the room they will go to and what the box contains. For example, “kitchen/glasses” or “children’s room/toys.”

Tips with the Moving Company

Get a quote for all the items you are moving and any additional charges that may be required. Organize a date and time with your moving company.

Take pictures of important things before the move just in case that you have to provide proof of damaged items later.

If you are going to utilize the moving company’s packers, organize your belongings to make it easier when unpacking.

Make sure every one of the boxes and containers is marked, and you’ve inspected the list of items before signing off.

The moving company should provide a moving tips list to help better plan your move.

Additional Moving Tips

Make a list of emergency phone numbers of those you might need to call on the off chance that you require help. Inform them ahead of time that you might require their assistance. Add these phone numbers to your mobile phone’s contact list.

Pack a separate survival box for all the items you may need on the “day one” of your move into the new home. Make sure that you carry this box with you, so it’s the first one you unload. Some of the items that you may want to put in this box are:
